Workday 2026R1 (2026 Release 1 will be released on 3/14/2026)

Twice a year, in September and March, Workday – City of Gainesville’s integrated, cloud-based human resource, finance, and payroll operations system – releases major feature upgrades designed to increase functionality and enhance the user experience.

New Features and Enhancements in Workday 2026R1

  • Meet Your New Homepage Search Bar: Finding what you need just got easier. Workday redesigned the homepage to feature a central, branded search bar. It is now your primary hub for quickly finding tasks, reports, and coworkers, making your navigation faster and more efficient than ever.

  • Transition to People Experience Search: Workday is retiring the legacy Classic Search experience (introduced in 2022R1) and making the People Experience Search the default standard for all users. Consequently, the option to toggle back to Classic Search via the worker profile (My Account > Change Preferences > Search Preferences > Edit Category Preferences) is being permanently removed.

  • Users can personalize their search behavior by utilizing "Saved Categories" to dictate the order in which Workday scans and displays results.

  • Users currently utilizing the People Experience Search will experience no disruption however if the user toggles Simplified Search is Disabled, they will not be able to go back. Eventually users still on Classic Search will be automatically upgraded. No manual action is required from end-users.

  • Smoother Browsing: Enjoy faster scrolling and smoother transitions, especially on content-heavy pages.

  • Global Updates: Workday added full Right-to-Left (RTL) language support and refreshed the navigation menu for a cleaner look.
